Kermit Erasmus gave the visitors the lead in the 27th minute, only for Vuyisile Ntombayithethi to pull one back for the hosts five minutes later.

Erasmus then notched up his second of the match in the 61st, and Gavin Hunt must have thought his side had it in the bag with three minutes left on the clock.

But Qalanto popped up just moments before the final whistle to earn the Chili Boys a share of the spoils, as well as condemn Matsatsantsa to their eighth draw of the season.

The game was an open and entertaining affair with misses at both ends, it was SuperSport who looked more dangerous in the final third of the pitch.

Chippa, though, fought admirably to remain in with a slim chance, even after Buyani Sali was sent off for a second yellow card with 20 minutes left on the clock.

After what was Farouk Abrahams' first match as interim boss, the Cape outfit are now on six points and just one place above the relegation zone.

However, with bottom clubs Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu both in action on Wednesday, Chippa could still be consigned to the bottom of the standings.
