Downs won the game courtesy of Rodgers and Teko Modise, who both netted in the second half of the match.

It was his first goal since making the switch from Santos at the end of last season, and the Cape Town-born player admitted the pressure was starting to tell.

He said: "I'm glad to have scored my first goal in Sundowns colours, because I know the supporters have been expecting a goal from me for a while now.

"I was beginning to feel the pressure of not finding the back of the net, and it couldn't have come at a better time for me."

Rodgers finished his chance well before explaining he expects to score more goals with his feet, than with his head, as he did for the People's Team.

He added: "I don't run with my head or only play with my head because football is a sport primarily played using feet. People shouldn't surprised to see me score most of the goals here at Sundowns with my feet.

"In my previous club I scored a lot of goals with my head mainly because clubs are different and use different styles of playing.

"Here at Sundowns coach Johan Neeskens encourages players to keep the ball and I believe that will help me improve my game as a player."
