The 31-year-old suffered the horrific injury during the Buccaneers' penalty shoot-out loss in the quarter-finals on Sunday.
The Sea Robbers' medical team have since confirmed Mahamutsa will be out for between six and eight months, leaving them without one of their more influential centre-backs.
Some good news for Pirates, though, is the news Andile Jali and Oupa Manyisa are facing late fitness tests ahead of Wednesday's visit to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Benni McCarthy is also back to fitness and could feature against the Brazilians.
This weekend's result means Bucs have now been knocked out both the MTN8 and the Ziwa Mo, both of which they had been the defending champions following their double-treble success last season.
