Bidvest Wits midfielder Mzikayise Mashaba admits the side were not clinical enough following their Telkom Knockout defeat to Free State Stars on Saturday.

The Students were unable to find a way past Ea Lla Koto as 120 minutes of football ended goalless, with Stars eventually going on to edge the penalty shoot-out 4-3 and book their place in the semi-finals.

The previous round had seen the Clever Boys fire three past Kaizer Chiefs, while they have also scored in each of their last three PSL matches, but Mashaba was left ruing a lack of fire-power in their quarter-finals.

"I think we lacked some aspects in our game on the day, like we didn't show the aggression that got us through the first round," he told Football411.

"Going forward we didn't use our ability to our strength as we were not as clinical."

Mashaba, though, is keen to put that defeat in the past as they prepare to take on Moroka Swallows on Tuesday evening.

"But that is all behind us now, we are disappointed to have lost an easy game like that because we expected more from Stars, our focus is now on our league game tomorrow," he concluded.
