Lekgwathi: Pleads with strikers

Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi has urged the team's strikers to be less selfish in front of goal as they look to continue their Telkom Knockout defence against Bloemfontein Celtic.

The Buccaneers have been slightly off the boil this season and most recently played out a drab goalless draw against PSL basement side AmaZulu, a result which left the Soweto giants third in the standings.

The Sea Robbers have also managed just eight goals from their opening eight Premiership ties, which is half as much as leaders Chiefs have scored in the same period.

And with a place in the Ziwa Mo semi-finals up for grabs on Sunday, Lekgwathi is hoping the Bucs frontline can put together a more synchronised performance.

"I think we are playing very well but the only problem is scoring goals," the skipper said.

"Even against AmaZulu I think we created a lot of chances but we never converted them. We came together as a team just to sort out that problem."

The last time the two teams met it was Phunya Sele Sele who came away with the result, a 1-0 win in the PSL in September, and Lekgwathi is hoping his side can exact their revenge when they again travel to the Free State Stadium.

He added: "Last time we went to Bloemfontein we lost to them, but we regrouped and managed to beat Tuks, and then [we were unbeaten] against Leopards and AmaZulu, but the guys know that it's going to be a big mountain to climb."
