Isaacs: Celtic will bounce back

Bloemfontein Celtic defender Dominic Isaacs says they have to erase the midweek PSL loss against Platinum Stars with a win against Bidvest Wits.

Both sides were on the road this week, with Celtic losing 2-0 away to Stars in Rustenburg, while Wits beat Black Leopards 2-0.

Isaacs did not want to comment on the defeat, but insisted that their focus is solely on the Wits game.

"Wits is a quality side with quality players, and now they have a top coach too," the former Kaizer Chiefs player said of Clive Barker who joined the Clever Boys last month.

"A team like this is never easy to beat, they have new inspiration and they won on the road so it will be tough.

"But at home everyone knows we have a 12th man and they boost us tremendously. So we will count on them for their support," he added.

An interesting anecdote regarding this match is that Barker will be up against a coach he managed as a Bafana Bafana player. Celtic coach Clint Larsen made his debut for the national team in 1997 when Barker was still in charge.

This will be Barker's second game in charge and it will be interesting to see how Larsen, who took over Celtic just last season, will fare against one of the most respected coaches in the country.

Celtic find themselves eighth in the standings on 21 points with six wins, three draws and eight losses. Their visitors are in seventh spot with 22 points after five wins, five losses and seven draws.

Neither side have reported any serious injuries or suspensions for this match.

Kickoff is at 3:30pm at the Free State Stadium.
