The Bafana Bafana left-back was taken off in the 87th minute at Loftus Stadium after going down under a challenge from Ramahlwe Mphahlele, and Amakhosi coach Stuart Baxter admits they will watch the player closely before deciding what action, if any, will be taken to help aid his knock.

"He will be monitored to determine the extent of his injury," Baxter told the club's official website.

"It looked like he also suffered from cramps after getting a kick from one of Sundowns defenders earlier on."

Masilela only just recently returned from international duty at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, along with six other Chiefs team-mates, all of whom started against the Brazilians in midweek.

Baxter, though, has defended his decision to start all seven players, saying: "I did not want to be the one deciding for them that they are tired. I said to them play and join me on the bench when you are tired.

"They were all fired up to play. I am happy that they have acclimatised well with the rest of the group."
