It was Stars' seventh game unbeaten in the PSL and they once again showed why the Charles Mopeli Stadium is their stronghold.

Komphela's new signings made the difference as Danny Venter, who joined during the mid-season break from provincial rivals Bloemfontein Celtic, scored two goals.

Nomandela scored late in added on time to add to Chippa's woes, the Cape Town club now second from the bottom on the table with a paltry 13 points, while Ea Lla Koto are fourth with 28 points.

Fikru Tefera assisted with one of the goals and Komphela praised the newcomers for their contributions.

"There were a few good individual performances and I am happy for Fikru Tefera, Danny Venter as well came in scored two beautiful goals," he told the club's website.

"I thought Luyolo Nomandela could have scored a brace as well for himself, but three goals on the night were complementary."

Komphela then sent out a warning signal to PSL rivals, saying that his key players are still to return, showing off the depth he has in the squad.

Zambia captain and 2012 Africa Cup of Nations winner Kennedy Mweene was one of the players on the bench for the Chilli Boys clash.

Komphela added: "We performed well even though we were missing a number of our key players.

"I mean the likes of Kennedy Mweene were on the bench and nothing wrong with that, Noah Chivuta started off on the bench, we still missing Gege Soriola, Katlego Mashego and the two Togolese who have just returned from the AFCON and overall we are pleased with the results."

There is little time for Stars to celebrate their midweek victory as they prepare for a massive clash with Premiership leaders Kaizer Chiefs at the weekend.

"It's good that we will be going into the Kaizer Chiefs match after a good win and we know that they are a quality side, their vision is clear," said Komphela.

"We just need to go there even though we know it's not going to be easy playing at FNB Stadium. But the utmost importance is to go and regenerate the players, try mending the little wounds, check who has got knocks and get ready for Saturday."
