The left-back netted a long range free-kick against Club Desportivo Primeiro de Agosto at Chiefs' training ground in Naturena on Tuesday to give the hosts a 1-0 win.

Ritchie is known for his educated left-foot and found the net a few times while at Moroka Swallows, scoring from a corner kick once.

"It's always a good feeling to score," the former Swallows defender told Football411. "I always practice shooting at training whether it's free kicks or just strikes at goal, I enjoy it."

Due to the Africa Cup of Nations, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) halted the league fixtures which will continue on February 12. Amakhosi will play their first game away in Polokwane against Black Leopards.

"We can't wait to play a league game, this break was long and we worked hard during this time. We also enjoyed the Africa Cup and it's a pity Bafana got knocked out. But it's back to business for us and we are all fit and ready for the next round," said Ritchie.

Chiefs lead the league table with 35 points from 16 games, one point more than defending league champions Orlando Pirates and four more than surprise challengers Platinum Stars.

"It's good to be in the lead but we have to work harder to maintain it, there's still a long way to go but I know we have the players to do the job. We're all very determined to win the league and we are in the best position, but that does not mean we must take it for granted."

"Well done Keegan, just keep your head up and learn how to read the game better because of your lack of pace which got you off the starting eleven. If you can read the game better you'll stand a better chance of being in the starting eleven. Your competition is very tight with Tshepo Masilela & Jimmy Jumbo but with all this said I still believe in you. Good luck"
