Majoro: Doing the business for Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs striker Lehlohonolo Majoro says the targets he set for himself at the beginning of the season have been the motivating factor behind his goal glut.

The 26-year-old, who is currently preparing with Bafana Bafana ahead of Saturday's Africa Cup of Nations opener, has been in superb form for Chiefs this term, smashing home eight goals at the halfway stage to sit one strike behind joint top scorers Katlego Mashego and Bernard Parker.

South Africans will be hoping Majoro can replicate that form at this year's AFCON, which the hosts open against Group A rivals Cape Verde this weekend, and the forward is hoping not to disappoint.

"I set myself goals before the start of the season. It's the goals I set for myself that have been a driving force and the wind beneath my wings," Majoro told his club's official website.

"I am hoping to do well during the tournament (AFCON). We need to work as a team and push ourselves as a unit and as individuals.

"The will to do well is visible in this team and we are all committed to go a full distance."

Much has been said of Majoro's potential to make it on the European stage, but he insists for now his focus is primarily on this year's continental showpiece.

He said: "People always told me that I have the potential to go and ply my trade in Europe but I need to believe that first and work hard at club level. I am excited to be part of this group of players and we want to give it all to win the tournament."
