Kaizer Chiefs have requested their next PSL clash, against Mamelodi Sundowns, be postponed, given the fact the game comes just two days after the conclusion of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Premiership leaders are set to travel to Pretoria to take on the Brazilians at Loftus Stadium on February 12, with the encounter billed as one of the biggest matches of the domestic term so far, given Chiefs' lofty placing and Sundowns' timely revival.

Amakhosi have since sent a letter to the Premier Soccer League requesting the postponement, citing the loss of seven first-team players to international duty as reason to put the game on hold.

However, the postponement would only need to come into effect if Bafana Bafana make it to the semi-finals, as even defeat in the last-four would mean they would go on to contest the third-and-fourth-placed play-offs the day before the final.

The Chiefs players set to contest the continental showpiece are Siboniso Gaxa, Itumeleng Khune, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Lehlohonolo Majoro, Tshepo Masilela, Bernard Parker and Siphiwe Tshabalala, while Sundowns have just Katlego Mphela and Wayne Sandilands away on international duty.
