The two Soweto rivals are currently locked in a battle for the Absa Premiership trophy, with AmaKhosi leading last season's champions by just one point, with 14 matches remaining.
Along with Mamelodi Sundowns, Chiefs and Pirates have the biggest and strongest squads in the league, but still feel the need to add more quality in order to top their bitter rivals.
AmaKhosi coach Stuart Baxter has spoken already of his desire to spend, and now he has been followed by Bucs boss Roger de Sa.
"We need to have a strong team going into the second round. You know I didn't have pre-season with the team and I found they had already signed the players and I didn't have a say.
"Now I will use this break as pre-season and sign two or three players. I know who I want and which positions, but I won't say names now as those players belong to other teams.
"I have to beef up the team as the season is long and we will also play in Africa [the CAF Champions League," de Sa said.
The Sea Robbers are said to be looking for an additional striker, and also a centre-back.
Mbulelo Mabizela of Bidvest Wits has been linked with a return to his former club, while Sundowns defender Clayton Daniels' name has also come up.
