The Chilli Boys opened the scoring after 29 minutes as Welcome Qalanto headed home from a free-kick, but Wayne Arendse replied in kind in the second period as the match ended 1-1.

But despite being unable to build on their lead, Abrahams was more than happy with the performance shown from his improving charges.

He said: "I'm happy, a point a against a Sundowns team firing on all cylinders, I'm very happy."

He did admit, however, that his team are still learning the game, with a number of players still relatively new to the Premier Soccer League.

"Our pressing was good, but we lack maturity when we have the ball. In the first half when we won possession we gave it back to easily," added Abrahams.

"The maturity can only come with game-time - there's a lot of local boys in there who have come with the team from the Second Division and suddenly they are playing in the bright lights of PSL football, so there are some limitations.

"That is why we play percentage football, not passing the ball around too much in our own half."
