Calvin Kadi had give the Clever Boys the lead from the spot, although Nomandela fired home at the death to earn his side a point.

The result left Wits ninth in the standings going into 2013, while Ea Lla Koto end the year in fourth, 10 points behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

The Students worked themselves a chance after just two minutes as Matthew Pattison's rasping free-kick brought a decent save out of Tshepo Motsoeneng, who was able to hang on to the effort.

Pattison continued to look lively for the hosts in the opening stages but saw another powerful shot blocked by the defence, while Motsoeneng needed to be at his very best to just tip Tinashe Nengomasha's effort round the up-right.

Moeketsi Mvula then showed some intent for the visitors at the other end by saw his shot quickly closed down, while midway through the first-half Dove Wome's path to goal was also denied by some decent defending

Anver Esterhuizen was desperatly unlucky not to give Stars the lead after 35 minutes as he saw his 25-yard drive crash off the bar, and shortly after the restart they were made to rue that miss.

Daniel Cardoso was the man guilty of handing the Clever Boys the chance after bringing down Kadi inside the area, with the playmaker dusting himself off to slam home the resulting penalty.

Kadi found the back of the net after 56 minutes, smashing home his penalty.

That was how the score stayed until the 90th minute when Cardoso redeemed himself by sending in a cross from the right channel which Nomandela slotted home from inside the penalty area, handing the men from the Free State a valuable point and lifting them to fourth on the table.
