Usuthu have been rooted to the foot of the table for a number of weeks now, having taken over as the league's poorest side from Mamelodi Sundowns, who are enjoying a resurgence under Pitso Mosimane.

And while the former Bafana boss has already steered his side to two wins in his short time at the club, Rosslee is finding life in Durban that much tougher.

The former Ajax Cape Town coach and Orlando Pirates' assistant has presided over three draws and a loss.

But Rosslee is hopeful that the break for the Africa Cup of Nations in January, coupled with a few key signings will aid his side in the second round of the season.

After the 2-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday evening he said: "For us it will be a blessing.

"It will give us five weeks to prepare, it will be like a pre-season for me.

"The five weeks will be great and if I get everything across and the players are open-minded about what I'm looking for, we'll do well."

Matthew Rusike and Bernard Parker sealed the win, but Rosslee was happy with his side's performance for much of the tie.

"The team followed their instructions for the first 35 minutes.

"We were nice and organised, we were compact and we restricted Chiefs' game pattern.

"Unfortunately, a mistake at the back led to the opening goal. We did well to come back and made a game of it in the second half as well.

"Another mistake led to the second, but it was a great goal by Parker."

He added: "I'll be looking for someone up front and also at the back.

"Before I came to AmaZulu, the team didn't buy well...the fact of the matter is that we'll have to bolster the squad to improve our log position.

"In the squad we've got, there are one or two issues with players and strikers that have come in and not delivered."
