Bartlett: Up for the clash

Golden Arrows assistant coach Shaun Bartlett says a win against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday evening will be an 'early Christmas present' for the men from Lamontville.

Arrows will have their tales up heading into the Moses Mabhida Stadium encounter after a morale-boosting 2-0 win over fellow strugglers Ajax Cape Town on Sunday.

And Bartlett, whose side climbed four points clear of the relegation zone with the three points, says the players are high on confidence and looking forward to the clash against the defending PSL champions.

"I think more than anything else we want to keep the momentum going. The win against Ajax Cape Town did a lot for the team. It was a huge relief for the guys," Bartlett told Football411.

"It's good that the game is just a few days apart from our last outing because we will be looking for the same attitude from the guys."

With the PSL set to go on break after the midweek round of ties, the former Charlton Athletic striker believes it is of paramount importance to go into that period on a winning note.

"We are looking forward to an exciting game against Pirates. A win against a big team before we break will be great for the guys," he said. "We know that Pirates are in the title race, games between us in the past have been exciting and we believe we can upset them and throw a spanner in the works."

According to Bartlett, the break has come at a good time for Abafana Bes'thende.

"We still have a lot to work on so we can have a better second round in the league. The guys understand that inconsistency could be our biggest downfall," he concluded.
