United, along with also unfancied Platinum Stars and Free State Stars, occupy three of the top five spots in the standings ahead of the festive break.

The Team of Choice have won six league matches, lost five and drawn four ahead of their midweek encounter at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

However, Ernst Middendorp's side went down 2-1 to defending champions Orlando Pirates on Friday at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Ruben Cloete was also shown a straight red card for a ridiculous two-footed lunge on Bucs' Andile Jali.

Cloete will now miss the clash with AmaTuks, along with fellow defender Mohamed Awal who's still suspended.

Tukkies make the trip on the back of a 1-1 draw at Premiership leaders Kaizer Chiefs, with Steve Barker's side also hoping to cap off a whirlwind start to their debut top-flight season.

On current form, last term's National First Division winners are very evenly matched with Maritzburg, ahead by just one point on the table.

Barker has new injury or suspension concerns, Mpho Maruping (knee), Sepeke Manamela (ankle) and Siyabonga Shoyisa (cheek bone) all still sidelined.
