Meyiwa earned South Africa coach Gordon Igesund's selection for Saturday's clash with Malawi, having overtaken Moeneeb Josephs at Pirates this season with several strong performances.

"I have to firstly thank God for all that is happening to me. My teammates, family and surroundings." he told Football411.

"If you work hard there will be rewards for the hard work and I guess it's the same with me.

"Coach Roger is a former goalkeeper himself and he sometimes tips me on how I should deal with certain situations in a match and that has helped me and developed me a lot as a goalkeeper.

"Other than being a coach, he knows how to advise me as a goalkeeper and that has been quite helpful.

"Sometimes we don't play good football, but because we fight for each other, we are united in spirit, and have a coach who says the right things, we manage to pull through everything."

Meyiwa has joined Kaizer Chiefs' Itumeleng Khune and Mamelodi Sundowns number one Wayne Sandilands in Igesund's 24-man squad for the friendly with the Flames in Durban.

The Bucs shot-stopper understands he'll not be in the front of the queue for the weekend's encounter, but insists he'll try his best no matter what.

"I just have to take my club form to camp with me, it won't be easy but I'm prepared to go there show what I can offer," claimed the 25-year-old. "With hard work, anything is possible."
