Katlego Mashego opened the scoring in the 32nd minute but a goal just two minutes after the restart by Lerato Manzini put Clinton Larsen's side back in the tie before Letladi Madubanya netted what proved to be the winner after 77 minutes.

With both sides struggling of late - Swallows without a win since October and Celtic without a win in their last four league matches - it was a cautious start to the match.

The first real chance arrived on 22 minutes when Celtic were forced to clear off their goal-line following a well-struck corner that was flicked goalwards by Lefa Tsutsulupa.

Phunya Sele Sele were, however, unable to keep Mashego from hitting the target 10 minutes later with the striker stroking the ball into the bottom left-hand corner of the net from the edge of the box.

Lerato Manzini thought he had found a 36th-minute equaliser with a backheel after he latched onto a corner at the near post but he only succeeded in hitting the crossbar.

Lerato Chabangu then fired his effort against the woodwork just two minutes later from a superb 20-yard free-kick from the left-hand side.

A renewed Celtic side emerged for the second half and they wasted no time in finding an equaliser as Manzini latched onto a superb through ball to race on goal with just the keeper to beat - and the striker showed his composure to slot the ball under Aubrey Mathibe.

Mashego headed a 65th-minute corner wide of the target as the home side continued to look for a second goal.

And it duly came 11 minutes later as Madubanya rose above Mathibe to head home from another corner.
