The Clever Boys still moved up two places into sixth in the league standings as a result of the stalemate, while Tuks remain in fifth on 18 points, just one more than their opponents this week.

The blustery conditions didn't help either team, although it was the hosts that enjoyed the better of the chances in this match.

Tuks goalkeeper Washington Arubi did well to deny Papy Faty twice in quick succession in the opening minutes from close range before Matthew Pattison nearly scored from a corner that Arubi was forced to tip over the goal.

At the other end, Ramahlwe Mphahlele picked up a loose ball in midfield that he smashed goalward, but Wits stopper Ryan Harrison was equal to the effort.

Harrison then easily denied Mame Niang after the striker had stolen into the box, but his shot lacked any real power.

Dipsy Selolwane fired wide from distance before Sibusiso Vilakazi was cautioned for diving in the box when it looked as if he should have been awarded a penalty.

And the game winding down Ryan Chapman drove into the box before unleashing a rasping low drive that Arubi did well to get down to.

Selolwane had two good chances to win the match late on but first his close-range header flew wide of the target before his long-range shot was well saved by Harrison.
