Former Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder Cecil Oerson has been arrested after injuring his wife when he petrol-bombed her car outside their Wilgehof home.

According to Free State police, the 34-year-old became involved in a heated argument with his spouse on Monday night before tossing a bottle containing a flammable liquid with a lit fuse into her Toyota RunX.
Oerson was taken into custody after his wife, Charita Oerson, had to be rescued by neighbours before being admitted to the Mediclinic Bloemfontein with multiple burn wounds.
Police spokesperson Chaka Marope said: "The vehicle caught fire inside and the woman sustained serious burn wounds in the face, hands and legs."
Oerson has been brought up on charges of attempted murder and malicious damage to property and will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
