The Urban Warriors started brightly but petered out as early as midway through the first-half as Bernard Parker, Siboniso Gaxa and Siphiwe Tshabalala wrapped up the points for the PSL leaders.

The result leaves the Mother City outfit facing a relegation scrap with more than a third of the season already played, and Pruijn admitted his side just weren't good enough on the night, despite some promising signs early on.

"I think the first 20 minutes something was very close to the game-plan, but unfortunately we didn't end up in final third with the right pass, the right shot," he said after the Soccer City encounter.

"We couldn't take anything more and get closer to what he wanted to achieve.

"We had some opportunities; I think mostly in the first-half, but in the second-half Chiefs were all over us. They weren't very good goals, but they are things we need to work on.

"The result needs to be much better."

When asked about his future as coach at Ikamva, the Dutchman replied: "That's not up to me,. At the moment it's me helping the club. The result doesn't help, we don't climb the table, we have (third-placed) Maritzburg on Friday, but I'm going from day to day.

"(The result) isn't good for me, isn't good for the club, the players, but it's something we learn from, work on, and that's all I can do."
