The Brazilians lock horns with Bloemfontein Celtic in the Ziwa Mo climax on Saturday evening, although Downs' cup run comes in stark contrast to their form in the PSL, which only last week saw them climb off the foot of the standings.
Neeskens, though, feels the criticism directed towards himself and his side is not warranted, and hopes to put an end to the continued calls for his sacking.
"The performance in training has been good," he said. "We lost a lot of games in the beginning of the season but we have improved. I make mistakes, my players make mistakes, We are all human.
"We need to be given more credit than we are getting. We have done well to reach the final. Some of you [assembled journalists] have never kicked a ball in your lives but you keep on criticising us."
When asked about any potential butterflies swimming around the stomachs of the Sundowns players, Neeskens added: "Every game is a turning point, If you play in the final then you will always want to win. We don't have any nerves, I don't have any nerves."
