Assistant coach Madida took the reins at Usuthu on Monday following the sacking of Roger Palmgren after the club's poor form this season.
Madida's first responsibility will be to help the Durban outfit climb off the foot of the PSL table with a positive result against Black Leopards next Wednesday.
"I'm hopeful that the players will be full of confidence come match day," the 45-year-old told AmaZulu's official website.
"It will be an interesting game given the fact they won their last game against Ajax which was away from home, but they are beatable at home having lost 4-0 against Pirates not so long ago.
"We have to initiate things and take charge of the game. If we fall somewhere at least a point will have to do but we want to win it."
Madida has also revealed his ambition of seeing off reported candidate Craig Rosslee as Palmgren's permanent successor.
"At my age I think I'm ripe for the challenge of taking on whatever challenges come my way. I can cope with those challenges because I started coaching long before some of the young coaches that are coaching at the moment in South Africa," he said on Times Live.
"It will be up to the directors to decide, but the players are very much comfortable with me, especially with the [introduction of] several more game-related drills at training, to which they've responded well.
"They know what I can do and they know I have a lot of confidence in them."
