Abafana Bes'thende looked to be heading towards all three points after leading 2-1 in the closing stages in Atteridgeville, but Mor Diouf's 86th-minute strike rescued Matsatsantsa a draw.
The result left Arrows 13th in the standings, above the relegation zone only on goal-difference, but Mngqithi felt with a bit more luck they could have been celebrating what would have only been their third victory of the season.
"Honestly speaking, I think the team fought well," Mngqithi said after the match.
"We were unfortunate in many instances, hitting the upright in the first half and creating some chances that never really gave us much.
"It was unfortunate to concede a goal in the last few minutes of the match."
However, the coach admitted that prior to the kick-off he probably would have settled for a point, adding: "Maybe if you were to ask me before the match, I would take the draw.
"But now that we had the chance of having the three points in the bag, I feel hard done by. Generally, I think the team played better (than the last three matches)."
