The Moses Mabhida Stadium encounter looked to be heading towards a goalless draw, but with two minutes remaining the Ea Lla Koto man found the back of the net to snatch the win.

The result took Steve Komphela's Stars into sixth on the table with 17 points, while Usuthu remain in the relegation zone with just nine points from their opening 12 PSL matches.

Both sides struggled to create any real chances in the opening stages of the match, with Dove Wome's wayward drive the most noticeable piece of action early on.

Andile Khumalo had a great chance to put the hosts in front after 17 minutes as he latched onto Ayanda Dlamini's flick, but could only fire his shot straight at Tshepo Motsoeneng.

Dlamini then had a pop at goal himself but fired over, while at the other end Sadate Ouro-Akoriko had to be at his best to deny Khumalo a shooting opportunity.

Wome was then again guilty of wasteful finishing after the break after breaking into the area but firing wide, while Lehlohonolo Thebakang looked destined to score after losing his marker and unleashing a stinging drive, but he was cruelly denied by the woodwork.

Josef Lekata should probably have put Roger Palmgren's men in front after 75 minutes but he couldn't get any connection on Dlamini's slide-rule pass.

And with just two minutes remaining the visitors snatched the win, Esterhuizen rising highest in the area to head home.
