Booth: Ruled out of Cape derby

Ajax Cape Town's caretaker coach Jan Prujin is without his defensive general Matthew Booth ahead of the Cape Town derby clash against Chippa United at Cape Town Stadium on Friday.

Booth is suspended for the tie, having picked up five yellow cards this season. Koen Van De Laak and Nhlanhla Shabalala have both been ruled out with injury while Bradley Grobler faces a race against time to be fit, having missed the Wits clash due to injury.

Prujin's side played out a goalless draw at Bidvest Wits on Tuesday night and the Dutchman is more than happy to play the underdog tag ahead of the clash with the Chilli Boys.

"We are not entirely satisfied but we were content with a point yesterday (Tuesday). Our main priority was not to concede and we achieved that, although we would have loved to sneak in a goal and settle for three points instead of one," Prujin told Football411.com.

"However I am more positive that I was last week, and my only concern heading to the derby is that we couldn't score.

"Grobler is far from fitness, but maybe he can still work on that and force his way to the make the bench on Friday, and we've been trying different combinations as you saw we started with Khama (Billiat) upfront yesterday.

"Heading into the game, the home advantage, longer history in the PSL and the type of football may be advantageous to us but it is always good going into the game as underdogs.

"Chippa's combinations have been working in the past few games and so they are definitely not going to be underestimated," added Prujin.

Chippa, meanwhile, are coming off the back of only their second win in the league, a 2-1 victory over Platinum Stars on Tuesday evening.

New manager Farouk Abrahams has successfully managed to lift the spirirts of his once-beleaguered troops and would relish a victory against cross-town rivals.

Abrahams's side are one point and two places ahead of third-from-bottom Ajax in the Premier Soccer League standings.
