Downs have produced some shocking performances in the league this season and have managed just one victory from their opening 10 matches to sit rock-bottom with just six points.

Johan Neeskens' men did, however, book their place in the Telkom Knockout final after seeing off Tshwane rivals SuperSport United 1-0 in Saturday's last-four clash in Pretoria.

That result should have the Brazilians buzzing ahead of the midweek tie, with the side coming up against an Usuthu outfit who have faired only marginally better.

The Durban outfit have collected just two more points than their upcoming opponents to sit one place above the drop-zone.

Neeskens, though, is expecting a tough encounter, telling Backpage TXT: "We can expect a tough game against a very motivated team.

"We need to stay positive. That's the only way we are going to come out of this situation.

"It is not easy to see us at the bottom like that, because I believe we have a team that should be competing for first place.

"I understand how my players feel because we haven't had an easy start to the season and we are bottom after 10 matches."

Roger Palmgren's men were also most recently dealt a 1-0 defeat at Bloemfontein Celtic in the league, although their previous two matches had ended in a win and a draw respectively.
