A place in the Telkom Knockout final is up for grabs when Tshwane rivals SuperSport United host Mamelodi Sundowns at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday night.

The two clubs have historically been amongst the most successful in the PSL era, but are both struggling for form this season.

Downs have endured a miserable campaign, finding themselves bottom of the league table after 10 games.

United, meanwhile, are in 11th position, having won only one and drawn eight of their ten matches.

Matsatsantsa did, however, reach the final of the MTN8, where they lost to Moroka Swallows.

The pressure will certainly be greater on Sundowns to win this game, not only to turn their season around, but also because of the expensively assembled squad.

It includes former SuperSport stars such as Anthony Laffor and Elias Pelembe, while Teko Modise also once played for United.

SuperSport also have within their ranks a couple of former Brazilians.

Franklyn Cale, Sibusiso Zuma and Mabuthi Khenyeza all left Downs after failing to make an impact, unlike Pelembe and Laffor who were shining for United before being lured across the city.

Downs coach Johan Neeskens continues to play down the pressure factor, but the Dutchman must be getting more desperate by the week as results keep going against his side.

"There is nothing different from the other matches, we want to win every game we play. It is normal for a coach to aim to win everything you play for.

"There is always pressure in every game," were Neeskens' standard comments ahead of the game, or indeed ahead of any game.

Both sides have potential game-breakers, though one player in particular is catching the eye at the moment: Kermit Erasmus appears to be finally fulfilling his potential under Hunt and has been in scintillating form of late.

There are no notable injury or suspension issues for either side, although Katlego Mphela remains a long-term absentee for Downs.
