The new Lidoda Duvha coach, who succeeded the disgraced Sunday Chidzambwa two weeks ago, watched on as Jacob Obaje's 88th-minute winner ensured they would head back to the Limpopo with all three points.

The result took Leopards to 10th in the standings with 12 points from their opening 10 PSL matches, and Palmer was more than happy to take credit for the team's win.

"We came (to Cape Town) to consolidate in the first half, to stay compact and then to attack more in the second half," Palmer said in the post-match press conference.

"We knew that Ajax is a team that likes to play in between the lines and we had to avoid that. We had to try and get them on the break.

"It was always our plan to bring in two attacking players in the second half.

"They were comfortable coming at us because we were compact. That was the game plan and it worked for us."
