The win sees United go equal on points with third-placed Platinum Stars and extended their winning streak.

Abafana Bes'thende started the brighter of the two sided and enjoyed the lion's share of possession but were unable to manufacture any real chances.

However, it was the Team of Choice that took the lead against the run of play from the second chance of the match. The first was Orlando Smeekes' free-kick which was helped over by Arrows keeper Pavel Steinbors.

And from the resulting corner delivered by Delron Buckley, Justine Zulu failed to clear his lines, allowing Evans to lash home with the goal at his mercy.

Norman Smith then missed a couple of good opportunities to get the Lamontville outfit back into the game but he fluffed his lines.

Buckley was inspirational throughout and another quality set-piece was almost converted by Mario Booysen.

Manqoba Mngqithi threw on striker Thamsanqa Gabuza at half-time who did well to spin off his marker on the hour mark but failed to deliver the required finish, firing tamely at Walters.

Mzivukile Tom then put the ball on a platter for Bongi Ntuli to head home, but he glanced his effort across the face of goal.

The result means Arrows remain in 12th position while Ernst Middendorp's side continued their impressive start to the season, notching up their fifth win of the campaign.
