Mamelodi Sundowns' tough season continues on Saturday when they face the University of Pretoria at the Tuks Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Brazilians go into the game occupying last position in the PSL standings, following their 3-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates on Wednesday.

Sundowns have managed just one win in nine league games, an astoundingly bad run of form for such a talent-laden squad. And there is not even the excuse of a lengthy injury list, Katlego Mphela aside, Downs have had most of their top stars fit this season.

Perhaps even more surprising, based on the club's recent history, is the fact that Johan Neeskens remains in charge as head coach.

The Dutchman has been signing a familiar tune for weeks now - saying that he sees an improvement in his side, yet apart from a few draws and a Telkom Knockout run, the Pretoria side has not won in the league since the opening day when they beat Chippa United.

But Neeskens remains adamant his side can turn the corner.

"We can come out of there (last place), and I think the way we played, I'm positive that we are going to come out of there.

"We cannot make these sorts of naive mistakes, but the way I saw the players play, I'm not concerned that we'll come out of there," he said.

Tuks, meanwhile, have enjoyed a dream start to the campaign, and currently sit in fifth place, although they did suffer a 1-0 loss away to AmaZulu in midweek.

Coach Steve Barker's biggest concern appears to be getting his side to perform at home - the defeat to Usuthu was the first time Tuks have not picked up maximum points on the road this season.

At home though, where they are expected to seize the initiative and take the game to their opponents, Tuks have not been able to make use of their swift counter-attacking game and results have not been as expected.

Sundowns though also being a Tshwane side, are likely to have more supporters at the game, which may just play into the University side's hands.
