The Team of Choice approach the game in fourth position in the PSL standings, and with a 2-1 midweek win over Bloemfontein Celtic under their belt, thanks to a brace from Cuthbert Malajila.

Historically, though, the Durban club have not fared to well against their city rivals, losing eight and winning only two of 12 league encounters.

But with Arrows 'rebuilding' under the return of coach Manqoba Mngqithi, and having lost 3-0 to Chiefs on Wednesday, the momentum is currently with Maritzburg.

Abafana Bes'thende midfielder Thanduyiso Khuboni believes there are some positives to take from the defeat to AmaKhosi, but accepts that Maritzburg provide a tough challenge.

"[The Chiefs result] was a difficult result to accept because although we started the game slowly, we improved late in the first half and played even better in the second half," he told Backpage TXT.

"But these things happen in football; we've discussed the mistakes and we are now looking forward to the next game.

"It's going to be very difficult. Maritzburg United are a very organised side, they play good football and they have been scoring goals.

"But, if we defend well as a team and use our chances this time, then we can get the three points, especially since we'll be playing at home.

Maritzburg's success will, in some respects, come at a price, believes defender Byrone Hendricks, as opposition sides approach with more caution and respect than they would have in the past.

"We're not looking at where we are on the log. It's all about taking each game as it comes," he said.

"But if you look around the squad one can see that there is a feeling of belief, that we have players and a team who can achieve something. We feel that on our day we are as good as any side in this league.

"Other teams are also changing the way they look at us and are planning for us more that they used to."

The PMB side have a clean bill of health for the game, although defender Peter Peterson remains an injury doubt.
