Grobler: Hopes to impress

Ajax Cape Town striker Bradley Grobler says their much-improved defence comes as a real confidence booster to the team's front-line.

The Urban Warriors appear to have been turned around by new coach Jan Pruijn, who succeeded Maarten Stekelenburg in the interim role at Ikamva.

The Dutchman has led the Mother City outfit to a 1-0 win and a goalless draw in his two games in charge against AmaZulu and Mamelodi Sundowns respectively.

And ahead of Wednesday's PSL clash against Free State Stars, Grobler hopes their clean sheets can inspire more goals up front.

"I think it [the confidence] is much better for us now that we are not conceding goals," Grobler told Backpage TXT.

"The way we started off the season I think was a bit of a problem, and now we need to start scoring goals.

"It is just frustrating as a forward when a team doesn't concede and you can't score, especially when the chances are created as well. As a striker I feel a lot more confident going into a game knowing our defence is really looking good.

"Free State Stars is always a horrible place to go and play but we got to do it, we got to go there. There are other places that are not going to be nice to go to, but we have to pick up our away form.

"If we can go to Free State and get a result it will be very good result for us. For me, it is probably the hardest place to go and play."
