The Students were sent crashing out of the Ziwa Mo quarter-finals on penalties on Saturday after their clash against Free State Stars finished goalless after 120 minutes.

Victory in midweek, though, could see Antonio Lopez Habas' men climb to within three points of leaders Kaizer Chiefs, who face Golden Arrows on the same evening.

The Dube Birds, meanwhile, sat out this weekend's set of last-eight Telkom Cup encounters after having been dumped out at the first hurdle, although the Soweto giants have the chance to climb to second in the standings with victory this week.

The Birds will once again be relying on star striker Katlego Mashego for goals, with the forward having plundered six already this season and the 30-year-old admits he is relishing his chance to shine.

"I'm in such a good space right now. I'm back home in Jo'burg, I'm at a club that allows players to express themselves, to push the limits and continue surprising people. I would say it's the perfect fit," Mashego told Backpage TXT.

"Right now the freedom I'm getting has been so good for me it allows me to try things without the fear of being sworn at if it doesn't come off.

"We are looking forward to the game against Wits, we know it won't be easy but we are determined to pick up the three points."
