Phunya Sele Sele, 1-0 victors over the Buccaneers in the PSL ealier this season, made it two-from-two against the Soweto giants as they won Sunday's penalty shoot-out 5-3 after a thrilling 3-3 draw after 120 minutes.

"We always said from the beginning of the season we have tried to sign some quality to really make a serious challenge for one of the cups," the coach said after the encounter.

"It has been seven years since the club has won any silverware so we have tried to put together a decent squad that will allow us to challenge for silverware.

"Unfortunately the gelling process has taken longer than we expected but we do see a steady improvement in the squad we have and I can honestly say we are getting better. The players are starting to get as a team."

Siwelele had turned around a 3-1 deficit against the defending champions in the closing stages of the 90 minutes to force extra-time, and Larsen admits he was delighted with his side's fighting spirit.

"I'm very happy with the comeback of the boys, they showed character in not giving up at 3-1 down so late in the game so I must given them credit for that," he said.

"There are a lot of people doubting the team after us making some decent signings but the players have proved now that we are getting better with every game."
