Spireites injury woes mount

Cook: Playing resources stretched

Cook: Playing resources stretched

Chesterfield look set to be without two players who started the 1-0 defeat by Gillingham on Saturday for Tuesday's home clash with Aldershot Town.

The Spireites are already without Tendayi Darikwa and Armnand Gnanduillet, while Sam Hird will sit out the match as he serves the final game of his suspension.

Manager Paul Cook is refusing to feel sorry for himself, choosing instead to see the enforced absence of some players as an opportunity to utilise his full squad.

He told Spireites players: "We've got a couple more injuries. The likelihood is that we're going to be without two of the lads who started on Saturday.

"We can't do much about that. It'll stretch us but it's football. I think sometimes the more you speak about injuries, the more they seem to come up. We're just going through that little patch that everyone has. It's football, it's the nature of the game.

"I always think that if you're in a squad at a football club then you're in there for a reason. If you're not considered good enough to play then you shouldn't be at the club."
