Mphela underwent knee surgery in June and only made his first appearance for Mamelodi Sundowns this season early in December.

Soon after, the 28-year-old was included in Gordon Igesund's AFCON squad.

Despite showing signs of rustiness in recent friendly internationals, 'Killer' told Football411 he's positive he'll be on song against Cape Verde this weekend in Soweto.

"I've had to remain positive and work extra hard to get back in the national team and I have to thank the Sundowns technical team for affording me the much needed game time, straight after recovering," he said.

"Returning to the national team is quite an emotional experience for me, because I have been out for a lengthy period after I had an operation on my knee and just being in the team is motivation enough for me to work harder.

"(But) I'm ready to deliver for the nation, as I have always been and all we need is support from everyone, then nothing is impossible."

Mphela has scored 23 goals in 49 matches for Bafana since becoming the first player to score a brace for Bafana on debut in 2005 against Seychelles.
