The game was goalless at half-time and then Spurs went ahead on 65 minutes as Gareth Bale scored from outside the box courtesy of an assist from Tom Carroll.

The Welsh wizard collected the ball and found the bottom left hand corner of the goal to open the scoring.

But Norwich staged a late comeback to book their progression in the Capital One Cup.

On 82 minutes, Robert Snodgrass put a corner in and Alexander Tettey struck a shot that Jan Vertonghen turned into his own goal from six yards out to level the score.

Only three minutes later Norwich got what turned out to be the winning goal. Snodgrass put a free kick into the box and Grant Holt had an effort saved by Hugo Lloris, which came back to Jackson who tucked the ball in from close range.

Spurs tried in vain to force an equaliser with Mark Bunn saving a Clint Dempsey penalty, but the home team held on to claim the win and book their place in the quarter-finals.
