The goals came either side of half-time as the Nerazzurri made it six points away from the San Siro so far this season, taking them to fourth place in Serie A with nine points while Chievo's fourth straight loss leaves the club stuck on three points.

Inter's result follows on from this past weekend's loss to Sienna, and Stramaccioni was happy to see his side return to winning ways.

"For us it was important to come back and win after the defeat on Sunday, and I think that in general, over the 90 minutes, Inter deserved to win," said the coach.

The result left Inter four points behind leaders Juve, while Domenico Di Carlo's men are just one point above the relegation zone after five matches.
