The Premiership champions were thumped 3-0 in Cape Town on Wednesday - Palacios's first game in charge following Julio Leal's suspension earlier in the week.
Bucs now meet bitter foes Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium this weekend, with Palacios hoping for a swift response.
"I can't increase the training session load because of the loss against Santos," he told the Sowetan.
"We just need to do what is necessary for the big derby, but we have realised our mistakes.
"We've identified a lot of our mistakes and watched the tapes from that (Santos) match, but it's impossible to change all of that after just one game.
"There's discussions that needs to take place between myself and the players and that could take time."
Palacios, however, indicated he is unlikely to make wholesale changes.
"Even Julio (Leal) didn't change what (former coach Ruud) Krol had done in the first few months he got here and neither will I change what he has done. It's going to take time," reiterated the Peruvian.
