Timbers, who play in Major League Soccer's Western Conference, watched Evans play in a reserve game, and he is now waiting to hear if he cracked the nod in Oregon.
Evans said on the Ajax website: "It was a new experience to play in the USA, things are done very different over there.
"I played in a reserve game against the Seattle Sounders and we won 2-0 and hope to have done enough to impress the Timbers technical team.
"Their season is in the early stages, they played eight games in their 30-plus game schedule.
"I enjoyed my time at Portland Timbers, now I'll wait on their response."
Evans is back in training in Cape Town and will likely feature in their match against Bidvest Wits on Wednesday.
