Fikru Lemessa produced an instant contender for goal of the season to put Stars ahead, but Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Bernard Parker replied for Amakhosi in the final 13 minutes to take them back to the top of the PSL standings.

Steve Komphela's men, meanwhile, finished the day in fourth, 11 points off the pace.

Both sides looked happy to play the ball around in the midfield during the opening stages of the match, while Dove Wome and Lemessa played a nice dummy and one-two on the edge of the area, but Tefu Mashamaite was quick to react and came across well to intercept.

Midway through the first-half and Ea Lla Koto were gifted the chance to open the scoring as a sloppy pass allowed Wome to pick up possession before losing his man with a nice drop off the shoulder, but his next touch was a heavy one and allowed Itumeleng Khune to break off his line and just get to the ball ahead of the forward.

Moments later, Chiefs threatened with their own chance as a loose ball fell to Eric Mathoho, who managed to test Kennedy Mweene with a powerful volley from the edge of the area, although the goalkeeper was well positioned and made a comfortable save.

Both sides proved largely wasteful in the first-half, highlighted in the closing minutes before the break as Siyabonga Nkosi could only direct Siphiwe Tshabalala's free-kick over the bar from a few yards out.

After 51 minutes, though, the visitors took the lead, and in sensational fashion as Lemessa received the ball on the edge of the area, selling his marker with a dummy one way and taking a touch to set himself the other, before lashing a superb strike over the goalkeeper and into the very top corner of the net.

Tshabalala looked to level matters in equally stunning form after controlling in space and hammering his volley goalwards from well outside the area, but he couldn't get the dip he needed and his effort flashed over the crossbar.

Midway through the second-half the hosts finally found a way through, albeit in fortunate circumstances as Tshabalala's free-kick hit the wall before falling to Parker, whose mis-hit effort flew across goal, although Letsholonyane kept his wits about him to power his header home from the centre of the area.

With just six minutes remaining of normal time, the Glamour Boys snatched the win in controversial fashion as the referee incorrectly awarded a free-kick right on the edge of the area, allowing Parker to curl a sumptuous effort into the back of the net.
