Profile The Orlando Pirates maestro transformed from a very good player to South Africa's most marketable footballer almost overnight. But along with some of the biggest endorsements in the game came a drop in form and a fair bit of criticism. Bafana's local-based captain has showed glimpses of his artistry in recent matches and must continue on an upward slope if he plans to keep his sponsors - and the global audience - tuned into him after the showpiece. To his credit, the Soweto-born attacker has admitted he has been below par for both club and country. He said: "I have a couple of things I need to work on like everyone else and hopefully by the time the tournament starts I will be sharp and back to my normal self." Bafana fans will be hoping that's the case. |
