Profile French journalists have admitted they were taken aback to learn that Mphela had made South Africa's World Cup squad after his largely unsuccessful spells at RC Strasbourg and Stade Reims. But 'Killer' isn't just a part of Carlos Alberta Parreira's armoury, he has become Bafana's biggest draw card up front. The 25-year-old was the top goalscorer in the Premier Soccer League in the 2009/10 season and proved his mettle and goalscoring prowess on the international stage at the Confederations Cup. Birmingham are reported to be eyeing a move for the striker but he won't be rushed into signing, saying: "It's not about Birmingham right now, it's about making the country proud." |
